SOAR Program

Funded by a grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife, we are beginning our recreational shooting program. The goal is to provide a means to for the disabled community to participate in the shooting sports in a safe and enjoyable manner.  We will uniquely tailor our instruction based on each participants abilities and needs.

After basic sighting-in and target practice, participants will have opportunities to engage in friendly target competitions to further shooting skills and proficiency. We will provide several opportunities throughout the year at various gun ranges around the DFW Metroplex. Here are the ranges we have visited so far:

Events begin with an orientation meeting on gun safety & range operations. We provide hearing protection but recommend you have your own ear plugs / muffs as well.

At Quail Creek we meet in the parking lot and transition to the 25-yard pistol range as a group which makes it easier to distribute. Having your own ear plugs is important for late arrivals.

At Elm Fork, the setup is a little different.  We will be on the left side of the 50-yard range which is right across from the rifle clubhouse. Just park anywhere and make your way to the range. This is an active range and you will be subject to loud noises until you make your our location -- which is why we recommend your own ear plugs / muffs until you reach us and can use our hearing protection.

All participants must sign up before attending so that we can properly prepare for your experience. Simply click the link below to sign up and we will see you there Saturday.

All signed-up participants will be notified via text by 10am on the day of the event if there are any site / weather related issues.
